Day #37
It is hilariously funny, very touching and portrays the message of our everyday living. We seriously need more directors like Yasmin in order to present the real life scenario to our community instead of make believe lifestyles. Yasmin is daring enough to even go against her own race in this movie. This scene can be seen from a conversation between a daughter and a mother from a very conservative Indian family. I could not believe my own ears when those words are uttered. Knowing well that most of the sudience would be Malays, Yasmin still dares to put those words into the scrip.
I especially like the character of Hafiz, a role played by 16 year old Mohd. Syafie Naswip. Needing to care for his terminally ill mother, he still manage to do well in his studies and thus causes jealouslyof one of his classmate, Kahoe, played by Howard Hon Kahoe. Hafiz manage to be one of the finalists for the Talentime organized by his school. The songs he performed were full of meanings and it is all self-written. Went through a hard phase in life yet remain strong.
All I wana say is , Yasmin, your movies are just getting better and better. Keep up the good work!!
Say YES to Malaysia Film Industry!!
